Internship Adjunct Department: Business and Technology Reports To: Interim Dean of Business & Technology Salary range: $1000* Per Credit Hour Olympic College is recruiting adjunct faculty to teach courses in Internship (INTRN). Part‑time positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter‑by‑quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Olympic College is a public two‑year community college accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities that educates more than 13,000 students a year. Olympic College is located on the scenic Kitsap Peninsula across the Puget Sound from the city of Seattle. Kitsap is surrounded by 236 miles of saltwater shoreline and centrally located between the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges, affording spectacular views of mountains and water from every vantage point. Teach Internship (INTRN) courses in accordance with approved course outlines, college policies, course schedules, and departmental guidelines. Provide students with a course syllabus that clearly communicates internship requirements, learning outcomes, assignments, evaluation criteria, and important deadlines. Assist students in developing internship learning objectives that align with their academic programs, career goals, and assigned workplace responsibilities. Review internship placements to determine whether the proposed experience supports the learning outcomes of the course. Explain course expectations and internship requirements to students and internship‑site supervisors. Maintain regular communication with students throughout the internship experience. Communicate with internship‑site supervisors as needed to discuss student progress, workplace expectations, and completion of required evaluations. Monitor student participation, progress, and completion of required internship hours and course assignments. Evaluate student learning through appropriate methods, which may include reflective assignments, learning logs, time records, supervisor evaluations, student conferences, presentations, or other required coursework. Maintain accurate records of student participation, internship hours, assignments, evaluations, and final grades. Complete and maintain required internship agreements, learning contracts, evaluations, and other course‑related documentation. Respond promptly and professionally to students, faculty, staff, and internship‑site representatives. Refer student, workplace, or placement concerns to the supervising dean or other appropriate college office when necessary. Submit grades, course records, and other required documentation by established deadlines. Perform other instructional duties consistent with the Internship faculty assignment. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, organizational leadership, business, management, student development, workforce development, or a related field. Professional experience working in an educational, business, nonprofit, government, workforce‑development, or organizational setting. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, employers, and community partners. Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records, manage deadlines, and work independently. Preferred Qualifications College-level teaching, advising, internship supervision, or student-support experience. Experience working with internships, work‑based learning, experiential learning, workforce development, career services, or employer partnerships. Experience supporting students in identifying and achieving academic and professional learning goals. Experience working in a community or technical college environment. Familiarity with learning-management systems and electronic student-record systems. Successful Applicants Will Effectively teach and impart excitement and enthusiasm in teaching courses; Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their careers; Utilize a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success; Teach and contribute through actions or in any other way to the college’s diversity; Function as a team player; Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation; Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds; Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals Appropriately incorporate the use of computer information technology in the delivery of services; Establish and maintain effective working relationships; Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Olympic College mission, diversity, and learning-centered climate; Uphold Olympic College values and ethics that are necessary to maintain a positive climate. Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment. Final salary contract will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits. This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load. Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter‑by‑quarter basis. Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement.
