Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join an established manufacturing organization. This role is responsible for supporting financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month-end and year-end close activities, account reconciliations, tax compliance, budgeting, and other key accounting functions.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and experience working with ERP systems. Candidates with manufacturing accounting experience, multi-state tax exposure, and international accounting experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and General Accounting

• Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
• Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, including general ledger and subsidiary ledger reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Perform general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany transactions involving foreign subsidiaries and multiple currencies.
• Assist with fixed asset accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cash flow forecasting.
• Prepare foreign exchange transactions for management approval and coordinate with foreign exchange service providers.
• Research accounting discrepancies, resolve issues, and recommend process improvements.

Tax Compliance and Regulatory Reporting

• Support multi-state sales and use tax reporting, research, and compliance.
• Research and assist with property tax reporting and regulatory requirements.
• Help ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Prepare financial information and reports for management, regulatory agencies, surveys, and other reporting requirements.

Systems, Audits, and Process Improvement

• Enter, retrieve, and analyze financial data within the company’s ERP system.
• Assist with new accounting system implementations and process improvements.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and workflow documentation.
• Support annual external audits and other internal or regulatory audits as needed.
• Manage vendor and customer portals, certificates of insurance, and employee expense reporting systems as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist with collections administration and related activities.
• Support junior accounting team members as needed.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives, special projects, and other administrative duties.
• Work occasional month-end or year-end weekends as business needs require.
• Maintain reliable attendance and comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable safety guidelines.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• At least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Exposure to multi-state tax compliance, intercompany accounting, foreign currency transactions, or international subsidiaries is a plus.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and financial reporting applications.
• Experience with FRx or similar financial reporting software preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• A service-oriented approach with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Primarily office-based work in a temperature-controlled environment.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform routine office activities.
• Ability to use computers, printers, copiers, and other standard office equipment.
• Ability to occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 15 pounds.
