Intake Counselor (Inglewood Administrative Services)

This is a hybrid position based in Inglewood, CA with one day per week in-office required. You have the option to elect into a 9/80 flex work schedule.

The pay for this position is $18.10-$20.81 per hour.

Summary

As an Intake Counselor at Didi Hirsch, you will play a crucial role in the initial engagement with individuals seeking mental health and substance use services. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct thorough screenings over the phone, assessing the needs of clients and determining their eligibility for various programs and services we offer.

Primary Duties

• Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.
• Following established call handling protocols, collect information regarding the case to determine eligibility.
• For those who are eligible for services, schedule the intake assessment appointment, in accordance with established Agency protocols and procedures.
• Interface with such agencies as the Department of Mental Health and the Department of Public Health, criminal justice services, social workers and others, to give and receive information relative to services.
• Provide basic advocacy.
• Develop and maintain counselor skills through seminars, workshops, or other forms of training/education.
• Attend and actively participate in all team and staff meetings, supervision and consultation.
• Engage in continuous quality improvement efforts.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a related social service/mental health environment.
• Develop and enhance knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and community resources.
• Efficiently use a personal computer, and work effectively and efficiently using all Microsoft software and the electronic health record.
• Knowledge of HIPPA requirements, DMH policies, and other state/federal regulations relating to service programs for adults with history of mental illness.
• Demonstrated basic advocacy skills.
• Strong written and oral communication.
