Mechanical Engineer - Propulsion and Propellent Safety

Position Overview Sr. Propulsion Engineer – Fleet Ballistic Missiles program, providing technical and programmatic support for all three stages of the Boost Rocket Motors. Responsibilities Collaborate with a team of Propulsion Engineers, ensuring open communication with customers and maintaining strong partnership across geographically diverse locations. Provide technical management and recommendations for Boost Rocket Motors, partnering in root‑cause analysis, vendor support, relationship building, and production delivery. Direct and lead analytical support tasks for hardware action items. Collaborate with subcontract management to provide technical support, mentor teammates, and serve as a technical interface to FBM management, systems engineering, quality, and Navy counterparts. Basic Qualifications Experience with production support, integration, and/or qualification of hardware components. Experience as a hardware owner or equivalent (e.g., Certified Principal Engineer, Subject Matter Expert). Combination of experience in engineering project management, supplier management, annual budget proposals, technical evaluations, and cost/schedule development. Exposure to or participation in failure investigations, root‑cause analysis, and/or corrective action disposition. Ability to obtain or maintain a DoD Secret Clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Desired Skills Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience. Experience with FBM processes and products. Experience as project or team lead. Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative. Review rocket motor aging data and analyses; recommend updates to data acquisition and analysis efforts. Experience with energetic safety input for CAPMs, SRRs, PDRs, CDRs. Knowledge of motor and missile environmental excursions and static fire test analyses. Security Clearance Required: U.S. citizenship and Top Secret clearance. Ability to obtain or maintain a DoD Secret clearance is necessary.
