Sherwood Companies was established in 1934 and currently under the third generation owner and CEO, David Sherwood. Sherwood has become an industry leader in the Midwest by having the ability to self-perform many types of civil construction projects, while having a tremendous amount of experience with all underground utilities. Sherwood self-performs many types of civil construction including: earthwork and site prep, concrete and asphalt paving, civil and structural concrete, rock excavation, piling and sheet piling, sub-grade stabilization, and water/waste-water treatment facilities.

The Survey Party Chief is responsible for providing surveying services to company supervision, superintendents, foremen and crews, subcontractors and project owners, on medium to large roadway and heavy construction projects. The surveyor is expected to adhere to all PPE and safety guidelines on the job sites. This role is classified as safety sensitive.

Activities/tasks/scope include establishing GPS site calibration, verifying site elevation basis, bridge layout and staking, drain structure and feature layout, roadway and features layout, paving and bases layout, retaining walls MSE and cast in place layout, machine control base, subcontractors, equipment and daily items, and other duties as assigned.

Competencies include communication, risk assessment and management, managing work, initiating action, work standards, and adaptability.

Education/experience includes a high school diploma or GED required, current driver license & clean MVR, minimum 1+ years construction surveying experience, heavy civil construction experience preferred, experience with Autodesk – AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus.

Certification/other skills and abilities include knowledge of survey methods, plan and shop drawing reading, ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide, survey equipment experience with Trimble, and physical demands including keyboarding/typing, ability to read effectively, ability to handle a large volume of work, ability to effectively verbally communicate, ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk and lift heavy objects, and work environment characteristics including work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.

Travel required: Yes. Travel to various job sites across Oklahoma.
