Senior Quality EngineerHouston, Texas | Hybrid | Direct HireExcellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing organization in Houston.This is a hands-on individual contributor role supporting the quality of complex, engineered equipment and fabricated products. The Senior Quality Engineer will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, customers and third-party inspectors to ensure products and documentation meet project, customer and industry requirements.The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing quality, welding and fabrication, supplier quality, inspections and quality documentation. Experience supporting heavy mechanical equipment, structural fabrication, lifting systems, marine/offshore equipment, drilling equipment or other complex engineered products would be particularly relevant.What You'll Be DoingCoordinate quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the manufacturing and project lifecycleReview customer specifications, engineering requirements and project documentation to identify applicable quality requirementsDevelop, review and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and related quality documentationMonitor supplier manufacturing and fabrication activities for compliance with project and quality requirementsConduct supplier evaluations, audits and quality reviewsReview supplier quality documentation and inspection recordsCoordinate and participate in customer and third-party inspectionsSupport product testing at manufacturing and supplier facilitiesIdentify, document and help resolve nonconforming materials and productsWork with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to address quality issues and prevent production delaysMaintain detailed project quality records and documentationSupport continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, manufacturing and supplier performanceTravel periodically to domestic and international supplier locations as neededWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline preferredApproximately 6+ years of QA/QC or quality engineering experience within a manufacturing or fabrication environmentExperience with heavy mechanical, electro-mechanical or fabricated equipmentStrong understanding of welding, NDE and fabrication inspectionExperience developing or working with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)Supplier quality, supplier auditing or vendor qualification experienceExperience coordinating customer and/or third-party inspectionsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentationFamiliarity with ISO 9001 and quality management systemsExperience working with nonconformance reporting and corrective actionsAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is highly desirableFamiliarity with industry standards or classification requirements such as ABS, DNV or Lloyd's is a plusStrong communication, documentation and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and customersThis is a hybrid Houston-based position offering the opportunity to work on complex engineered products while having significant ownership of supplier and project quality.
