Fired Equipment Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Fired Equipment Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering support for fired equipment across multiple operating facilities in the Beaumont, Texas area, including a refinery, chemical plant, and polyethylene plant.

This role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of fired equipment, including process fired heaters, utility and power boilers, flares, and thermal oxidizers. The engineer will support both combustion and non-combustion components, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities span operations support, troubleshooting, reliability improvement, routine maintenance, turnarounds, and project execution.

• Drive site asset improvement in the areas of: Safety, Reliability, Environmental Performance, Equipment Capability and Efficiency in a team setting • Respond to plant operational events • Analyze site fired equipment performance • Support capital projects and minor modifications in the areas of design consulting, technical quality assurance, and start-up assistance • Support downtime/turnaround planning and execution (i.e. worklist development, inspection, recommendations) • Provide fired equipment training support to unit operations and mechanical personnel • Communicate and interact daily with inspection, maintenance, process, and engineering team members • Participate in risk assessments and investigations • Support closure of site fired equipment gaps identified by external and internal assessments • Assist in the development and deployment of new technology

• Heater tubes, metallurgy, and integrity components

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
• 8+ years of fired equipment or combustion systems experience
• 5+ years of experience supporting fired equipment in a refinery, chemical, or petrochemical operating environment
• Demonstrated experience with:
• Fired heaters and furnaces
• Combustion systems and burners
• Fired equipment troubleshooting and performance optimization
• Strong working knowledge of API 560, API 530, ASME, and NFPA standards
• Turnaround execution experience
• Familiarity with mechanical integrity programs
• Experience supporting EPC-led projects
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
• Experience supporting operating facilities (owner/operator or large site experience)

Education:

• Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related discipline)
• Highly Valued: API 560 expertise, fired heater specialization, PE license
