NIH NIGMS Fellowship for Biomedical Research Program Impact Analyses

Overview National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) offers a one‑year STEM learning fellowship for recent Post‑Master’s and Postdoctoral graduates. Selected fellows will work on interdisciplinary research projects in the “Science of Science” field, mentored by leading scientists at NIH. Responsibilities Contribute to a research project focused on capacity‑building in resource‑limited institutions, long‑term impacts of basic biomedical research, or factors influencing the biomedical research enterprise. Apply data quality management, network analysis, regression analysis, and economic analysis techniques. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of mentors and peers. Present research findings to the NIH community. Qualifications Minimum 18 years old. Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant field earned within the last five years (or anticipated completion by start date). U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Strong quantitative analysis, communication, initiative, collaboration, study‑design, and data‑science skills. Eligibility Criteria Citizenship: U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree earned within the last 60 months. Disciplines: Chemistry and Materials Sciences, Computer, Information, and Data Sciences, Life Health and Medical Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Social and Behavioral Sciences. Benefits & Provisions Competitive monthly stipend ranging from $5,416.00 to $7,083.00. Potential health insurance supplement for the ORAU/ORISE plan. Opportunity for annual renewal contingent on funding and performance. Hands‑on research and training with leading NIH scientists. Telework flexibility for some duties; in‑person presence in Bethesda, MD. Appointment Details The appointment is for one year, with possible renewal for an additional year upon NIH recommendation and availability of funds.
