General Production Worker

Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

This role supports multiple production line functions in a food manufacturing facility, including tray scraping, magazine supply, cup placement, product picking, cleaning, hand packing, wrapped product inspection, and case filling. You rotate through various stations to keep the production line running smoothly, maintain product quality, and uphold strict sanitation and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Wear and maintain gloves in a sanitary manner and change them as you rotate between stations.

• Supply cups to all cup setter magazines and ensure the cupsetter area remains clean at all times.

• Clear cup paper stuck on cupsetter heads when necessary and scrape trays as part of the production process.

• Verify that the cup paper size is correct for the product being run and that each tray cavity receives one cup paper.

• Notify the employee filling the magazines and the extruder operator when cup papers are missing or incorrect.

• Reposition incorrectly deposited cup papers, remove extra cups that have fallen or stuck together, and replace stretched, cut, or pinched cup papers with acceptable ones.

• Clean the Tonnaer screw and housing when the production line is down for one shift or longer.

• Remove defective product from the inspection belt and place it into rework or stockfeed pans.

• Monitor for product jams at the picker, inspection belt, and main product belt and address issues promptly.

• Perform metal detection checks every two hours while rotation support is present and at the end of each production run.

• Reject large quantities of unacceptable product when necessary to maintain quality standards.

• Clean metal detection probes and sweep the platform to keep equipment and work areas tidy.

• Start and stop the main production line when needed to support safe and efficient operations.

• Clean work areas thoroughly while the line is down to maintain sanitation and GMP compliance.

• Fill cases with the required number of bags, ensuring they are positioned properly.

• Monitor the integrity of bag seals to ensure packaging quality.

• Perform metal checks and inspect wrapped product for quality and compliance.

• Reset the main line after a wrapping stop to resume normal operations.

• Rotate through assigned stations in a timely fashion to support continuous production.

• Fill and seal cases accurately and efficiently.

• Perform finished product quality tracking and record case counts for production reporting.

Essential Skills

• Ability to perform general production work in a food manufacturing environment, including packing, picking, cleaning, and hand packing.

• Capability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures for multiple production stations.

• Strong attention to detail when inspecting product quality, bag seals, and wrapped items.

• Comfort with repetitive tasks and rotating between 2nd and 3rd shifts as required.

• Reliability in performing regular metal detection checks and documenting results.

• Commitment to maintaining strict sanitation practices, including proper glove use and adherence to GMPs.

• Ability to safely start and stop production lines and respond quickly to product jams or equipment issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in production, general labor, packaging, food production, or food manufacturing is beneficial.

• Willingness and ability to work both 2nd and 3rd shifts, rotating between the two as needed.

• Availability for initial training on 1st shift.

• Comfort working in a clean, climate-controlled environment under food safety regulations.

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting cases, and moving materials along the line.

Work Environment

The role is based in a food manufacturing facility that operates under strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The environment is clean and climate controlled, with a strong focus on sanitation and safety. Team members rotate between 2nd and 3rd shifts, with initial training on 1st shift. Proper attire is required, including steel-toe or composite-toe shoes, long pants (such as jeans without rips), and no hoodies. Long sleeves are allowed but must remain unrolled. The company provides hair nets, beard nets, jackets, hard hats, and gloves. Jewelry is not permitted on the production floor to maintain safety and product integrity.

This is a Contract position based out of Hershey, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
