RN Neurology

The Registered Nurse will provide specialized nursing care on a neurological unit, managing patients with complex neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Guillain Barre Syndrome. The role requires strong clinical and critical thinking skills to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, acute care environment. The nurse will utilize telemetry monitoring and participate in seizure evaluation and treatment using advanced EEG technology. This position demands at least two years of nursing experience, a New York RN license, and relevant certifications. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients with neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, and other acute neurological conditions.
• Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and utilize video EEG technology for seizure evaluation and management.
• Conduct patient assessments, medication administration, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Respond to patient needs and emergencies in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical observations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient care planning and quality improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to Joint Commission standards and hospital protocols for comprehensive stroke and epilepsy care.

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State (NY license only).
• Minimum of two years nursing experience, preferably in telemetry or neurological care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Telemetry experience is required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.

• Experience working in a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center or Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
• Familiarity with continuous video EEG technology and neurological disease management.
• Prior experience in fast-paced acute care or neurological nursing units.

• Work includes weekends, holidays, on-call, callback, and charge nurse responsibilities as per unit needs.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, acute care environment with complex neurological patients.
• Compliance with hospital policies regarding rotating shifts (Day/Evening/Night) is required.

• Straight night shifts with weekend and holiday coverage.
• Rotational shift patterns with potential for 48 hours per week billed at regular time.
• Shift assignments based on unit staffing needs and hospital scheduling policies.
