Clinical Assistant Professor

The Division of Rehabilitation Medicine within the Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician to join our faculty. The Division is rapidly growing and thus has a wide range of clinical care practice needs which can be tailored to the specific training and niche practice interests of individual candidates. Opportunities include, but are not limited to, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation at UW Health clinical care locations with a focus on general rehabilitation medicine, musculoskeletal-focused physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, and participation in the division's rotational call coverage of inpatient care at the UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

We are seeking candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through either practice experience or training. An appointment to either the Clinician Teacher or Clinical Health Sciences track will include teaching of various trainees, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates exists.

This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors: This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Assistant Professor (CHS) and Associate Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key job responsibilities include participating in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Required qualifications include a WI Medical license by start date of position, board-certified or board eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by start date of position, completion of a US ACGME-accredited Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency by the start date of the position, and must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by the start date of the position.

Preferred qualifications include experience in an academic medical setting and interest in peer reviewed publications and scholarly research activity highly desired.

Education: MD or DO, or equivalent required.
