Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to an adult and geriatric population on a Medical Surgical unit with an average daily census of 27 patients across 34 beds
• Manage patients with diagnoses including Appendicitis, Cholecystitis, Small Bowel Obstruction, Pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, Sepsis, HTN, hypo/hyperglycemia, Prostatectomy, Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Ostomy creation/reversal, Exploratory Lap, and Bowel Resections
• Operate and monitor equipment including nasogastric tubes (NGT), chest tubes, feeding tubes, and wound vacs
• Maintain a patient assignment ratio of 1:6 in accordance with unit standards
• Float within the facility and within scope of practice as needed
• Work every other weekend and adhere to holiday coverage expectations as outlined in contract terms

Required Qualifications

• Active Georgia RN license or valid Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• Current BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHS) certification required
• Proficiency with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements; all compliance documents must be submitted by the Tuesday prior to start date

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience caring for post-surgical patients including ostomy management and bowel resection recovery
• Familiarity with wound vac therapy and chest tube management in a Medical Surgical setting
