Role Overview
The Mechanical Technical Field Advisor III is the primary field technical authority on Mitsubishi Power projects, setting standards for equipment protection, injury prevention, quality execution, and professional conduct. The role leads complex mechanical installations, including gas turbines, steam turbines, large frame generators, and auxiliary equipment, while actively mitigating risk to personnel, equipment, schedule, and cost. Key expectations include leading injury prevention, fostering a positive site culture, and driving first-time quality to prevent rework.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary site-level mechanical authority for Mitsubishi Power-supplied equipment.
- Establish and reinforce uncompromising standards for equipment protection, intervening immediately when practices threaten Mitsubishi Power assets.
- Lead high-risk and complex work planning, including critical lifts, sensitive installations, and schedule-critical activities.
- Drive a Zero Injuries mindset by leading Job Hazard Analyses, coaching site leadership, and reinforcing hazard recognition and control.
- Influence EPC and partner leadership to fulfill safety and quality obligations.
- Champion first-time quality execution by shaping installation strategies, enforcing hold points, and ensuring readiness before work proceeds.
- Lead resolution of complex technical and equipment deficiencies, particularly those impacting Mitsubishi Power cost or warranty exposure.
- Own and drive high-impact Project Action Requests, engaging responsible parties, organizing Teams calls, and escalating as needed to ensure timely closure.
- Support Construction Site Services Managers by identifying emerging risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Mentor TFA I and II personnel, building technical capability, leadership confidence, and consistent field behaviors.
- Shape site culture through visible leadership, recognition of strong performance, respectful engagement, and accountability.
- Prioritize time in the field over the office to actively support installers and prevent rework.
- Drive timely documented sign-offs for erection packages, completion check sheets, record sheets, and system mechanical completion walkdowns.
- Prepare and issue daily reports on construction or commissioning support activities.
- Maintain punch lists and lessons learned for the assigned work area.
- Collaborate across disciplines to support safe, high-quality, on-schedule project delivery.
- Adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and promptly report unsafe conditions or activities.
- Contribute proactively to departmental and organizational goals.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment across all levels.
- Communicate clearly with employees, site teams, and leadership to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
- Uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity in all actions, decisions, and interactions.
- Promote Mitsubishi Power core values and organizational policies among site colleagues.
- Complete assigned training accurately and on time through designated programs and platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent power plant construction experience.
- Eight (8) or more years of progressive mechanical field experience on large EPC power projects.
- Extensive experience with Mitsubishi Power or comparable OEM GTCC installations.
- Ten (10) hours of OSHA training or experience recommended, but not required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and present information effectively to managers, customers, and the public.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret technical instructions.
- Knowledge of databases, project management tools, spreadsheets, word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, and flow charts.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80%.
