Job Description Reporting to the Executive Producer, the Producer oversees production and multiplatform distribution for the Kids' Media & Education (KME) department's animated and live-action series. The Producer manages content development, scheduling and budgeting; oversees post-production delivery and media supply chains, shapes brand and distribution strategy across broadcast, streaming and digital platforms; and partners with marketing and social teams to grow reach with kids, family, and education audiences. The position also plays a key role in communications and presentations and is the main liaison between internal departments, distributors, and external vendors. Please note that this is a funded position and contingent upon future funding availability. Responsibilities Manage all phases of production for animated and live-action series - content development, scripting, pre-production, production, post-production, and launch/delivery; Review and provide creative notes on materials at all stages of production, from content development through audio post; Generate supporting production documents, including producer notes, subject-matter visuals, and writers' guides; Serve as liaison with content consultants, head writer, episode writers, and vendors; manage notes deadlines and deliverables from advisors and the production team; Track production schedules and deliverables; serve as liaison between animation studios and distributors on rollout and scheduling, support game production and website updates; Produce additional media assets and support game production and website updates; Research and advise on trends in children's media, streaming platforms, and viewing habits to inform department strategy; Oversee all technical and logistical aspects of post-production, coordinating internal staff and external vendors (audio description, captioning, dubbing, technical evaluation, finishing, and delivery) to ensure on-time, on-spec delivery; Maintain the department's media library and production tracking systems (e.g., Airtable, shared drives), ensuring show masters, source files, and rights/airdate records are accurate and current; Serve as department lead on media asset management initiatives, coordinating with internal IT on technology needs and long-term workflow planning; Coordinate content releases and promotional campaigns spanning broadcast, YouTube, streaming and social platforms; Guide social and audience engagement strategy with internal and external teams (e.g., PBS KIDS Social Team) on a regular basis; Monitor audience and platform performance metrics to inform future growth strategies; Manage production budgets and schedules, contracts, and other administrative processes; Prepare quarterly reports, presentations, and communications for funders and station leadership; Other relevant duties, as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 5 years' experience in children's media production; Experience with production and content-management tools such as Airtable, Basecamp, and Asana; Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills (formulas, budget modeling, and reporting); Familiarity with media asset management systems (e.g., PBS Media Manager) and digital distribution platforms. Game and website CMS experience a plus; Animation experience required; educational media experience a plus; Adobe Creative Suite proficiency (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere) a plus. This is a hybrid position. Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience.
