STATUS : Part Time - Hourly
CLASIFICATION (FLSA): Non-Exempt
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Social Worker for the IDE‑PR Program is responsible for providing direct case management and socioemotional support to children and, in some instances, adolescents within school settings and Boys & Girls Clubs. The role includes delivering socioemotional workshops, offering behavioral support, providing substance‑use prevention guidance, and implementing interventions aimed at strengthening emotional competencies, self‑esteem, and overall well‑being. The Social Worker will maintain physical case files, conduct morning interviews with children and families when necessary, support cases involving domestic violence, and collaborate with external partners to ensure comprehensive care. This position requires regular school visits and an active, consistent presence at the Clubs.TASKS AND WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Provide case management for children and, occasionally, adolescents, ensuring timely interventions and follow-up.
- Conduct school visits and maintain regular presence within assigned schools.
- Deliver socioemotional workshops, including topics such as emotional regulation, self-esteem, social skills, substance-use awareness, behavioral management, and related developmental competencies.
- Conduct interviews with minors and their families in the morning as needed to assess needs or respond to emergent situations.
- Maintain physical case files and ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date.
- Develop action and support plans for children identified as at-risk.
- Provide support and case handling for situations involving domestic violence, ensuring referrals and collaboration with partner organizations such as Hogar Ruth.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with families, schools, and external allies to support participant well-being.
- Coordinate educational, cultural, and socioemotional activities for children and families.
- Collaborate with Boys & Girls Clubs professionals to assess and address participant needs.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Unit Director and Program Coordinator.
- Participate in internal and external events, community initiatives, and agency collaborations.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
WORKER REQUIREMENTS & CHARACTERISTICS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work (degree must be in Social Work).
- Current and valid Social Work license issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board of Social Work Professionals, in accordance with Puerto Rico Law No. 171 of May 11, 1940, as amended.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children, communities, or adolescents.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with external agencies and community partners.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of social work principles, case management processes, and ethical standards.
- Understanding of trauma‑informed care, domestic violence dynamics, and child protection considerations.
- Ability to conduct interviews with children and families using sensitivity, professionalism, and discretion.
- Skilled in delivering socioemotional workshops focused on emotional regulation, self‑esteem, behavioral support, and substance‑use prevention.
- Ability to build trust and establish rapport with children, adolescents, families, and school personnel.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills to maintain accurate physical case files and manage multiple cases concurrently.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and function effectively in school environments and Club settings.
- Demonstrated empathy, active listening, sound judgment, and commitment to participant well‑being.
- Ability to collaborate with external partners (e.g., community organizations, service providers) to support participant needs.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and reach as needed during the workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
- Regular use of office equipment (computer, printer, calculator, etc.).
- Frequent driving may be required to travel between schools and Clubs.
