Job Description:\n\nThe HVAC Comfort Consultant is responsible for meeting with residential and light commercial customers to evaluate heating, cooling, indoor air quality, and home-comfort needs and recommending appropriate HVAC replacement or upgrade solutions.\nThis position manages the sales process from the initial customer consultation through proposal, financing, signed agreement, and installation handoff. The Comfort Consultant is expected to provide a professional, consultative sales experience by educating customers, presenting appropriate options, addressing questions and concerns, and helping customers select a system that meets their comfort, efficiency, reliability, and budget requirements.\nThe Comfort Consultant must accurately evaluate jobsite conditions, document installation requirements, maintain complete records in ServiceTitan, and ensure all commitments made during the sales process are clearly communicated to the installation team.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCustomer Consultation & Sales\n· Respond to company-generated HVAC replacement and comfort-system sales opportunities.\n· Meet with homeowners and light commercial customers to evaluate their existing HVAC system and identify comfort concerns.\n· Discuss customer needs including temperature control, humidity, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, equipment reliability, noise, and budget.\n· Educate customers on available HVAC equipment, system features, warranties, maintenance options, and financing.\n· Present multiple equipment or system options when appropriate.\n· Prepare and present accurate written proposals using company-approved pricing.\n· Professionally address customer questions and objections and ask for the sale.\n· Obtain required customer signatures, deposits, financing approvals, and other documentation.\n· Follow up with unsold estimates and maintain an active pipeline of open opportunities.\n· Maintain company pricing standards and required gross-profit margins.\nSystem & Jobsite Evaluation\n· Inspect existing HVAC equipment and document equipment type, size, age, location, controls, electrical requirements, refrigerant type, drainage, and accessibility.\n· Evaluate visible ductwork and identify potential airflow or comfort concerns.\n· Measure and photograph equipment locations and relevant installation conditions.\n· Identify potential installation challenges before the project is sold.\n· Determine whether duct modifications, electrical work, drainage modifications, specialty equipment, permits, or additional technical evaluation may be required.\n· Coordinate with management or technical personnel when unusual or complex installation conditions are discovered.\n· Ensure recommended equipment is appropriate for the application and consistent with company installation standards.\nProduct Recommendations\nThe Comfort Consultant may recommend solutions including:\n· Heat pumps and straight-cool systems\n· Gas furnace systems\n· Variable-speed and inverter systems\n· High-efficiency HVAC equipment\n· Ductless and mini-split systems\n· Smart thermostats and controls\n· Dehumidification systems\n· Air filtration and indoor air quality products\n· Duct modifications\n· Zoning systems\n· Maintenance agreements\n· Extended labor warranties and protection plans\nRecommendations must be based on legitimate customer needs, system requirements, and company standards.\nProposal, Documentation & Installation Handoff\nThe Comfort Consultant is responsible for preparing complete and accurate proposals and ensuring the installation department receives sufficient information to properly complete each sold project.\nRequired documentation may include:\n· Equipment type, size, and model\n· Equipment and thermostat locations\n· Accessories and indoor air quality products\n· Site photographs and measurements\n· Ductwork modifications\n· Electrical requirements\n· Drainage modifications\n· Equipment access limitations\n· Specialty equipment or crane requirements\n· Customer requests and expectations\n· Installation scheduling considerations\n· HOA or property requirements disclosed by the customer\n· Other unusual jobsite conditions\nAll customer agreements, pricing, discounts, financing terms, warranties, and installation requirements must be accurately documented in ServiceTitan.\nThe Comfort Consultant is responsible for ensuring that promises made during the sales process are properly documented and communicated to the installation and operations teams.\nCustomer Service & Follow-Up\n· Provide a professional, respectful, and educational customer experience.\n· Arrive on time for scheduled appointments or communicate promptly regarding delays.\n· Maintain professional appearance and conduct while representing the company.\n· Respect customers’ homes and property.\n· Respond promptly to customer questions and concerns.\n· Maintain regular follow-up with customers who have not yet made a purchasing decision.\n· Document reasons for lost sales whenever possible.\n· Assist with resolving sales-related customer concerns when appropriate.\n· Build long-term customer relationships that encourage repeat business, maintenance agreements, referrals, and positive reviews.\n· Never misrepresent equipment capabilities, warranties, financing terms, rebates, expected energy savings, or installation requirements.\nPerformance Expectations\nPerformance may be measured using factors including:\n· Total HVAC replacement revenue sold\n· Gross-profit dollars and percentage\n· Closing percentage\n· Average replacement ticket\n· Financing utilization\n· Maintenance agreement attachment rate\n· Indoor air quality attachment rate\n· Lead-to-sale conversion\n· Sales cancellation rate\n· Accuracy of sold-job documentation\n· Installation issues caused by sales errors or omissions\n· Estimate follow-up activity\n· Customer satisfaction and reviews\n· ServiceTitan documentation compliance\nThe Comfort Consultant is expected to meet established sales goals while maintaining ethical sales practices, company pricing standards, and a high level of customer service.\n\nRequirementsRequired Qualifications\n· High school diploma or equivalent.\n· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.\n· Strong verbal and written communication skills.\n· Professional sales and presentation skills.\n· Strong organizational and time-management abilities.\n· Ability to explain technical information in terms customers can understand.\n· Comfortable discussing project pricing and financing with homeowners.\n· Ability to use smartphones, tablets, CRM systems, estimating software, and other company technology.\n· Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with management and operations personnel.\nPreferred Qualifications\n· Previous residential HVAC replacement sales experience.\n· Previous experience as an HVAC Comfort Consultant, Home Comfort Advisor, HVAC Sales Consultant, or HVAC technician.\n· Working knowledge of residential HVAC systems and installation practices.\n· Familiarity with heat pumps, variable-speed systems, inverter equipment, indoor air quality products, and humidity control.\n· Experience with ServiceTitan.\n· Experience presenting consumer financing options.\n· Familiarity with Manual J, Manual S, and Manual D principles.\nSkills & Abilities\nThe successful Comfort Consultant should demonstrate:\n· Consultative selling and without approval.\n· Make installation promises that have not been approved or documented.\n· Sell unnecessary products solely to increase the value of a sale.\n· Circumvent company contracting, payment, financing, or approval procedures.\n· Fail to disclose significant installation conditions discovered during the sales evaluation.\nBenefits\nEstimated Total Annual Compensation: $65,000–$150,000\nCompensation for this position consists of a combination of base salary and performance-based commissions.
