Field Safety Specialist

Field Safety Specialist Location: McAllen, San Antonio, El Paso, Phoenix, Remote Schedule: This position is mission critical and essential to ongoing operations; it requires a flexible schedule to support a 24/7/365-day operation. Job Summary The Field Safety Specialist conducts in‑person safety and wellness checks during site visits. This role assesses home environments and overall wellness, identifies indicators of trafficking, abuse, neglect, abandonment, or other safety concerns, and documents findings in accordance with procedures. The specialist maintains situational awareness, escalates urgent concerns through established reporting channels, and ensures the accurate, timely, and complete submission of all required documentation. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Conduct in‑person field site safety and wellness checks using standardized assessment protocols. Evaluate the physical environment and its occupants for indicators of trafficking, abuse, neglect, or other safety concerns. Identify and document any known or newly discovered risk factors. Maintain situational awareness and follow all safety procedures during field activities. Verify documentation including sponsor identification, contact information, relationship to the minor, and identities of all household members and school enrollment status. Inform individuals of their legal responsibilities and obligations, explaining the importance of compliance with all release conditions and other orders as appropriate. Prepare clear, accurate, and timely written documentation of all home visit findings. Ensure all reports meet quality standards and requirements. Log travel details and visit milestones in the company’s proprietary system, noting communications, delays, and other relevant information. Complete, document, submit, and upload all required documentation, case notes, and other information within required timelines. Report urgent or high‑risk safety concerns or unusual findings immediately to the immediate supervisor. Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Ensure all actions align with safety, ethical, and operational standards. Communicate professionally with families, management, and stakeholders. Coordinate with team members to ensure continuity of home visits and accurate information flow. Maintain a calm, respectful, and professional approach during all interactions. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and uphold the dignity of all individuals encountered. Maintain required training and certifications and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols at all times. Provide coaching as needed; act as a mentor and resource for recently hired staff, offering guidance on company policies, procedures, and best practices. Travel domestically on short notice and frequently by air and/or ground transportation; maintain readiness at temporary duty locations. Stand or walk on various surfaces for extended periods of time. Work flexible hours, including holidays, overnight, weekends, and multiple shifts to support a 24/7 operation; work prolonged hours. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications & Skills Associate degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited college (a high school diploma with one or more years of relevant experience may substitute for an associate degree). At least two years of documented experience in a field related to law, social work, detention, corrections, or a similar occupational area (or a minimum of three years of experience when a high school diploma with experience substitutes for an associate degree). Certifications, licensure, and credentials relevant to the position are required. Demonstrated experience applicable to the program’s goals and objectives, sufficient for effective communication with staff and for a similar program environment. Bilingual: speak, read, and write in English and Spanish. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with employees and customers. Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to take technical direction and feedback from various sources. Commitment to outstanding customer service and professional representation of MVM. Availability for frequent domestic travel, including visits to private residences and exposure to varying home conditions. Successful completion and maintenance of a Government Security Background Investigation, including a favorable credit check, no criminal record, and no prior drug use. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and graveyard shifts, and to work long hours. Ability to carry required equipment and documentation. Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with tablets and smartphone technology. Valid and current driver’s license with a safe driving record and compliance with insurance requirements, including car rentals. Excellent problem‑solving skills and report writing, preferred. Ability to work under extreme pressure, de‑escalate situations, and appropriately elevate issues. Proof of a U.S. passport book or the process of obtaining one, unless otherwise specified in the contract. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Mobility required to attend meetings with managers and employees. Climbing, stooping, or kneeling: 0%–10% of the time. Lifting, pulling, or pushing: 0%–10% of the time; must be able to lift up to 40lbs. Fine motor skills: write, type, and use a telephone system 100% of the time. Sitting: prolonged and extended periods of time. Security Requirements U.S. citizen required. Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance. Favorable credit check. Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Additional specific requirements may apply, such as DOT exam, vaccinations, CPR, or flu shot.
