Assistant Coach (Softball)

Responsibilities Analyze performance and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Recruit student athletes. Observe players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement. Coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques. Essential Duties Serve as the reserve varsity coach, including practice and skill development sessions, and hold certain responsibilities with the varsity program. Assist the head coach in scouting, talent assessment, and recruiting to achieve optimal roster numbers. Monitor and support the academic success and retention of student‑athletes. Provide training, direction, and encouragement in the preparation of student‑athletes in teambuilding, team strategy, and sportsmanship. Analyze player performance and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques. Act as a positive role model for student‑athletes, demonstrating commitment to the College’s mission and values. Secondary Duties Assist in arranging community service activities for the team. Plan camps (as needed). Participate in Champions of Character initiatives. Assist with fundraising. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree plus coaching experience. Knowledge of NCAA or NAIA (as applicable) rules and regulations. Preferred Qualifications Strong preference for those who work in an environment where student‑athlete education, welfare, and graduation are primary emphases. Strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills. Prior playing experience (preferred).
