We are proud to invest in communities to help address some of Canada’s most pressing physical and mental health care challenges. 0.5 FTE on an assembled truck: The PCP provides immediate treatment and transportation of sick and injured individuals to appropriate medical facilities. DUTIES AND TASKS Maintain personal knowledge and skills, in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP), to deliver optimum patient care. Safely operate MHS - West vehicles in accordance with MHS - West Health and Safety Manual, Operational Guidelines, and all provincial and federal regulations. Stock and maintain vehicles in a state of readiness at all times. Work in hazardous environments to ensure the safety and stabilization of the patient. Work with outside agencies as a team in a coordinated effort on behalf of the patient. Document all patient care, assessments, and skills, within the patient care report in a timely and legible fashion. Punctual and ready to respond at the start of their shift. Act in a professional manner and handle conflict situations with valuable judgment. Follow the MHS - West chain of command. COMMUNICATION Create and maintain fully completed patient care reports (ePCRs). Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with all provincial and federal regulations. Refer all media requests to the General Manager of MHS - West. Report all incidents and complete written incident report forms to the Director of MHS - West or designate. EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Develop and provide continuing educational requirements as required by the Alberta College of Paramedics. Maintain functional awareness of MHS - West Operational Guidelines, and AHS medical control guidelines. Participate actively in MHS - West Quality Assurance Program. Develop a plan for maintaining and improving self‑directed professional growth. PHYSICAL ABILITY Must be in good physical health with no disabilities that will impair duties as a Paramedic. Considerable lifting and movement of heavy patients. Will need to extricate patients from hazardous environments. Will advise director, and/or team leader, of injuries that will impair duties. PUBLIC RELATIONS Actively participate in public awareness and community education programs approved by MHS - West. Maintain professional appearance of the approved uniform, and maintain hygienic and grooming standards. SAFETY HAZARDS Exposure to violent behaviour. Traffic hazards. Communicable diseases. Invasive medical devices (e.g., IV needles). Extreme weather conditions. Work with present considerable hazards. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or G.E.D. Alberta Operators License class 1, 2 or 4. Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics. Current registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics, if applying to Lloydminster positions. Completion of Alberta Health Services MCPs. LICENSE / CERTIFICATION Certified in and maintains CPR certification. Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics. Current registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (Lloydminster only). FARE Certificate required. Salary: $28.15 - $42.01 hourly as per PEMS Inc/HSAA Collective Agreement.
