Warehouse Manager

The Warehouse Manager leads the day-to-day operation of the storage and distribution center and is accountable for the performance, safety, and productivity of the entire warehouse team. This is a hands-on, floor-first leadership role. The Warehouse Manager sets clear expectations and holds the team accountable, verifies and delivers training for both new and existing employees, maintains a fluent command of warehouse and forklift safety, and models an exceptional standard of customer service grounded in the principle that “we exist for our customers.” While the role also oversees inventory control, inbound and inter-warehouse transfers, order processing, and delivery logistics, its success is measured first by how well the team is led, trained, and kept safe on the floor — and by how consistently customers are served. TOP PRIORITIES OF THIS ROLE The following five priorities define the focus of this position Lead, direct, schedule, and motivate the warehouse team to meet daily productivity, quality, and service goals. Select, orient, assign, coach, counsel, and discipline employees, and recommend compensation actions in line with company policy. Communicate clear job expectations and hold each team member accountable to defined performance and conduct standards. Monitor, appraise, and provide feedback on job contributions; address performance gaps promptly and fairly. Foster a positive, high-accountability culture that keeps the team engaged and motivated. PRIORITY 2 — VERIFY & PROVIDE TRAINING FOR NEW AND EXISTING EMPLOYEES Ensure every new and existing employee is fully trained and qualified for their assigned duties before working independently. Verify employee competency on equipment, processes, and safety procedures, and re-train wherever gaps are identified. Deliver and coordinate ongoing training to build capability and cross-train the team across warehouse functions. Maintain accurate, up-to-date training and certification records for all staff. Enhance employee well-being and capability through consistent communication and development. PRIORITY 3 — FLOOR PRIORITY: LEAD FROM THE FLOOR Maintain an active, hands‑on presence on the warehouse floor as the first priority of each day. Directly supervise and support receiving, transferring, pulling, packaging, and loading of stock in real time, verifying product is pulled and staged correctly. Prioritize floor coverage and direct oversight over administrative tasks, stepping in wherever the operation needs support. Identify and resolve bottlenecks, safety concerns, and workflow issues as they happen. Organize floor space and keep inventory clean, orderly, and in sellable condition, maintaining overall warehouse housekeeping. PRIORITY 4 — FLUENT UNDERSTANDING OF WAREHOUSE & FORKLIFT SAFETY Maintain expert, working knowledge of warehouse safety and the safe operation of forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks. Enforce safe operating practices and all Safety/PPE requirements and ensure powered‑equipment operators are properly trained and certified. Uphold OSHA and company safety standards; conduct safety checks and correct unsafe behavior immediately. Keep equipment safe and operational by ensuring operating instructions are followed, troubleshooting breakdowns, and requiring preventive maintenance. Lead by example, modeling safe work habits at all times. PRIORITY 5 — DELIVER A HIGH LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE Champion the principle that “we exist for our customers” across the entire team. Ensure accurate, complete, and on‑time order processing, packaging, and delivery to customers; confirm shipments are delivered and promptly notify Customer Service of any exceptions. Coordinate inventory and transfers to improve customer service and perfect‑order fulfillment rates. Build and maintain strong customer and vendor relationships, resolving problems quickly to protect satisfaction. Present a professional appearance and a positive company image to customers and vendors at all times. ADDITIONAL OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Manage inventory by scheduling materials to and from the warehouse and coordinating transfers with related departments. Coordinate daily and next‑day shipments and pickups with the Lead CDL Driver, route next‑day orders on the local trucks, prepare loading plans, and ensure standard bills of lading (BOLs) are complete and accurate. Maintain a daily inventory log of owned and rented trailers (location, availability, and condition) and coordinate trailer repairs with the Lead CDL Driver, Manufacturing Warehouse Manager, and repair vendor. Conduct monthly physical inventory and cycle counts, reconcile variances, investigate lost or missing product, and input data accurately. Oversee inbound inventory transfers from the manufacturing centers, inter‑warehouse transfers, and order processing through delivery. Meet warehouse operational standards by contributing information to Operations Management meetings and implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer‑service standards. Meet warehouse financial standards by providing annual budget input, monitoring expenditures, identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions. Secure the warehouse (arm and test alarm systems) and manage timely building maintenance, dock repairs, and preventive equipment maintenance. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned, working overtime and weekends as operational needs require. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments and levels of management. Maintain a high level of customer‑ and vendor‑relationship skills, problem‑solving skills, and a strong work ethic to support competitive positioning and high levels of customer satisfaction. QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Minimum of one year in a leadership role, with proven ability to lead, coach, develop, train, and motivate a team. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a warehouse environment, with hands‑on experience in both receiving and shipping. Fluent, demonstrated knowledge of warehouse and forklift safety; able to safely operate a pallet jack, forklift, and reach truck, and to use a standard shift. High school diploma or equivalent education. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Capable of being DOT certified; must possess a valid driver’s license. Class A CDL a plus to help spot and move trailers. Working knowledge of the implementation and maintenance of computer systems and warehouse work processes.
