We are looking for a Party Crew Chief to join our teams based out of Oregon City, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington. A successful individual in this role is a strong communicator and will lead and supervise a field survey crew to perform on-the-ground data collection and staking. They will also be responsible for the maintenance and operation of survey equipment, field notes, data collection, and working with office staff, clients, and contractors on projects. This is a field-focused role requiring regular travel to project sites throughout Oregon and Southern Washington. This position will be directly managed by a Professional Licensed Surveyor with supervision from a Principal Surveyor.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a field survey crew on a day-to-day basis
• Review project requirements, maps, plans, and survey instructions to prepare for field assignments; confirm completeness of survey data before leaving to the project site
• Operate and maintain survey equipment, including Trimble total stations, Trimble GPS equipment, data collectors, and related technology
• Plan, coordinate, and execute daily fieldwork for boundary, topographic, and construction staking projects. Includes coordination of daily crew needs, site access, equipment, staffing, schedules, and field conditions
• Coordinate proactively with project managers and office staff regarding project scope and progress; promote safe field practices
• Identify and resolve routine technical or delivery issues and escalating conditions that may affect accuracy, safety, scope, schedule, or project requirements
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of field data collection

 

What you bring to the Team:

• Proven progressive land surveying experience, including experience independently leading survey fieldwork or serving in a comparable lead role; experience with boundary, topographic, construction staking, control, and as-built surveys
• Strong working knowledge of land surveying principles and field procedures
• Proficiency with modern survey equipment and data collection software
• Sound field judgement and the ability to organize daily assignments, adapt to changing conditions, and resolve routine technical issues independently
• Clear communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with crew members, office staff, contractors, clients, and the public
• Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying terrain, weather, and site conditions
• Ability to travel to project sites throughout the region, including occasional overnight travel as project needs require
• A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting public infrastructure, transportation, utility, or land development projects in Oregon and Washington.
• Familiarity with coordinate geometry and basic field calculations
• Experience mentoring or training junior crew members
