Role Overview The Program Manager V for Defense & National Security is responsible for management of all phases of program execution. Responsibilities include developing program‑management related documentation such as monthly status reports, PDR/CDR presentations, program planning documentation, CDRLs and presenting program materials to relatively large technical teams, management, subcontractors, and customers. The position reports to the Director of Advanced Technology Programs and is part of the Science & Technologies department based in Reno, NV. This role is onsite or hybrid based in Reno, NV. In This Role, The Essential Functions Are Plan, direct, and monitor project(s) to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are maintained; responsible for the project level profit and loss. Define, generate, and review project‑management related material. Ensure that all required resources such as engineering, manpower, production, and facilities are available for the program. Work closely with the assigned project staff to ensure adequate direction regarding budgeting and program execution. Ensure all program deliverables are met satisfactorily. Work closely with VTS management to identify and manage program risks and issues early and proactively. Serve as the primary customer contact for project information. Pursue follow‑on and new business opportunities directly with customers. Ensure adherence to all internal program‑management processes. Participate in customer meetings, peer reviews, and problem‑solving meetings. Contribute to the creation of proposals for follow‑on work. Travel up to 25% of the time to various customer locations. Perform other related job duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university. Equivalent experience may be considered. 20+ years of program management experience, including 10–15 years managing DOD propulsion‑related programs. Prior responsibilities directly related to generating, managing, and owning Integrated Master Schedules, Integrated Master Plans, and Earned Value Management. Direct experience managing large subcontract‑based programs. Experience briefing executive management and customers on program status, risks, and future plans. Experience managing programs for U.S. Government customers. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree with emphasis in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university. Equivalent experience may be considered. Experience managing rocket propulsion defense system programs. Experience managing Missile Defense Agency programs with MAP/PMAP requirements. Experience performing business‑development activities with funding customer offices. Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, and Project. Willingness to seek out and assume increasing responsibilities as workload changes. Ability to multi‑task in a highly collaborative team environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Other Requirements Travel up to 25%, including the possibility of overnight stays within the continental U.S. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must have a current DoD Secret Clearance. Compensation The good‑faith base salary range for this role is $180,405–$310,400 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on experience, skills, and location. The range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive.
