Project Engineer- Entry Level

Project EngineerThe Project Engineer, or project manager-in-training, is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent in all aspects of the day-to-day management of a construction project. This position will participate in all activities required to source, pursue and build a project including cost estimation, contract administration, schedule management and risk-quality management. Our passion is building.ResponsibilitiesIdentify and pursue new business development opportunities including maintaining positive client relationships to leverage future repeat businessPrepare full cost estimates including quantity take-offs and pricingParticipate in bid solicitation, bid package preparation and analysisAssist in preparation of general contract and subcontract administrationPrepare permit applicationsMaintain updated construction documents including as-builtsManage and process shop drawings and submittalsCoordinate material and equipment procurement and expeditingFacilitate the RFI processDocument project coordination meetings for distributionMonitor project schedules to ensure adherence to key datesInitiate, review and negotiate change ordersOversee entire close-out process including creation and completion of punch listOther duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering (i.e. civil, architectural, or construction), construction management or related field0-2 years' experience in the construction industryAbility to travel/temporarily relocate for job assignmentsAbility to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedulesAbility to understand and solve complex challenges in order to present alternative solutionsDemonstrated leadership and interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills - both written and verbalProficiency with computer applications including Microsoft OfficeKey success factors include passion for the industry, self-motivated, strong work ethic, time management, organized, detail-oriented and creativeMust be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the futureWorking Conditions• The Project Engineer's work is primarily performed indoors out of a main office or field office at the construction site; occasionally outdoors in various weather conditions with some exposure to health or safety hazards, including noise level may range from moderate to loud.• Light physical effort is required, including the handling of objects up to 25 pounds and some standing, walking, sitting, talking and/or hearing.• Construction site will change or vary and/or position may require travel.• Environment will be demanding and fast paced; number of hours typically worked in a workweek may exceed 40 hours per week and often "on call" 24 hours a day.• Position requires frequent, high-level of autonomy as it relates to decision-making that impacts company results.At Brinkmann Constructors, our passion for people means investing in their financial, mental, and physical well-being.
