Civil Engineer (Entry–Mid Level)
Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite)
Type: 6 Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: 28/hr-35/hr
Overview
A civil engineering firm is seeking an Entry to Mid-Level Civil Engineer to support residential land development projects in the San Diego area. This role is highly design-focused, working hands-on in AutoCAD to support infrastructure and site development for residential communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform civil design work using AutoCAD for residential land development projects
- Support grading, roadway, and utility design (water, sewer, drainage, storm systems)
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams on site and infrastructure development
- Assist with greenfield land development projects for public and private sector clients
- Interface with clients to review designs and support project progress
- Contribute to transportation, drainage, and construction engineering efforts across projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required; no other degrees accepted)
- 2+ years of civil engineering design experience (internships acceptable)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D preferred)
- EIT certification or actively pursuing EIT
- Strong academic background (3.0+ GPA in: Mathematics, Hydrology/Hydraulics, Water Resources, Transportation)
- Experience with:
- Roadway design
- Land / site development
- Grading (residential preferred)
- Greenfield development concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- Residential or commercial land development experience
- Experience with water, sewer, and storm drainage systems
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or progress toward it)
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Early-career civil engineer with strong design fundamentals
- Background in land development projects (especially residential)
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, client-facing environment
- Motivated to grow toward PE licensure and take on increasing responsibility
