Senior Software Engineer - Platform Team

Maven AGI sits at the center of the hottest intersection in tech right now: AI and customer experience. While most "AI support" tools still focus on FAQs and deflection, Maven's agents actually do the work, autonomously interacting with customers, personalizing the conversation, and resolving complex issues, not just providing information.

That's not a soft ROI story. It's the most direct cost-displacement case in enterprise software today: real human work, replaced, at a fraction of the cost, not "savings if you use it well," but savings because the agent did the ticket instead of a person.

Founded in 2023 by executives from HubSpot, Google, and Stripe, Maven builds conversational AI agents that don't just answer customers. They act, going into a customer's account, finding the actual problem, and fixing it, with no human required. Customers like Dell, ServPro, HardRock, Tripadvisor, Clio, and Thumbtack rely on Maven, with independently verified results — customers report resolving 70–93% of interactions autonomously — and G2 has named Maven a High Performer and Best Meets Requirements across multiple categories this spring.

Team:

Maven has assembled a world-class team from Google, Meta, Amazon, and Stripe, and is supported by executives & Advisors from OpenAI, Google, HubSpot, and Stripe.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform team. This is a high-impact, senior engineering role where you’ll help define the technical direction of our systems and mentor other engineers. You will be a key driver of architecture, design, and implementation, helping us build and scale robust, high-quality systems in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Contribute to the architecture and development of a world class agentic platform that powers intelligent, scalable, production grade AI agents.

• Work with cross functional partners to define requirements and translate them into clear, maintainable technical solutions.

• Lead or support high impact initiatives that expand the capabilities of our platform and accelerate our roadmap.

• Mentor engineers, provide thoughtful feedback, and help elevate the overall quality of the team’s technical work.

• Build well structured, testable, and resilient services that can operate at scale in production environments.

• Adapt quickly to evolving priorities and contribute effectively in an environment that values iteration, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are:

• You have 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong track record of delivering production quality systems.

• You're based in Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA and able to work out of one of our offices on a hybrid model.

• You have experience building backend services in Typescript/Node as well as Java. Experience with Spring Boot is highly desirable.

• You have experience setting technical direction for teams, making architecture decisions, and influencing engineering best practices.

• You bring relevant telephony experience, such as SIP, Twilio, or similar communication platforms, or you have demonstrated the ability to rapidly learn and operate within this domain. This may include work on voice routing, call flow orchestration, messaging pipelines, or integrating telephony services into distributed systems.

• You communicate clearly, collaborate well across functions, and can articulate technical tradeoffs in a way that supports strong decision making.

• You are excited to work in a fast paced startup environment, embrace ambiguity, and enjoy driving clarity and momentum across complex initiatives.

• Familiarity with areas such as LLMs, retrieval augmented generation, or agentic systems is a plus.

How You Show Up:

• We are customer champions. You put users at the center of your thinking, advocate for their needs, and design solutions that make their lives measurably better.

• We are bold in action. You move with urgency and courage, unafraid to challenge convention and take smart risks in pursuit of meaningful outcomes.

• We are data-driven and insight guided. You make thoughtful decisions grounded in evidence, combining data with intuition to guide strategy and execution.

• We are stronger together. You bring others along, value diverse perspectives, and contribute to a culture of trust and shared ownership.

What We Offer:

• 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums covered for you, 80% for family

• HSA and FSA plans available

• Unlimited vacation and 100% paid parental leave

• Free lunches, onsite gym, and commuter benefits for in-office employees

• $1,000 home office stipend and $5,000/year for continuing education

• Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and meaningful equity

• ~130 people, built from zero in under three years, small enough that your work is visible, big enough to already be running at Dell- and Tripadvisor-scale
