Demand Planning Manager

The Opportunity This is not a remote opportunity The role is expected to be based in Lake Forest, Illinois. Traveling up to 5%. What You’ll Work On The Demand Manager role will support the overall Demand and Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process for the Abbott U.S. Workplace Toxicology. The role will assist the S&OP process by collecting, validating and summarizing the inputs coming from Commercial (Sales managers, Sales reps), Finance and Marketing, as well as analyzing demand submissions to identify risks and opportunities. The role will take ownership and leadership of the demand department. Manage the monthly S&OP process: collect and review forecast changes (volume and value, manufacturing sites, price, customer contracts, rebates), disconnects from RLBE, Channel KPIs, ad‑hoc analysis and brief senior management on key findings. Demand analysis: review forecast changes and trends, align with Sales leaders and Finance to identify risks and opportunities to the latest forecast, and provide ad‑hoc analysis to support management decisions. Manage relationship with Supply Chain for constrained lines, prioritization/allocation decisions, monitor allocation execution and communicate updates to Sales. Define roles and responsibilities for the S&OP demand planning process; continuously identify opportunities for efficiency, growth and simplification; map current local S&OP processes and identify gaps and improvement opportunities. Lead initiatives and projects related to S&OP, demand planning and gross margin mix optimization, collecting and analyzing data to identify improvement areas and new processes or tools. Manage and lead end‑to‑end ad‑hoc projects related to demand and inventory management, including SKU rationalization, inventory level monitoring, E&O reduction opportunities, process mapping and talent development. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. 10 years of forecasting and/or supply chain planning and management, financial experience. Preferred Qualifications Prior Abbott experience at the country level. Understanding of demand planning and forecasting methodology and the S&OP process. Experience with forecasting applications and project management software. Understanding of supply chain planning process and its relationship with demand planning, commercial, finance and marketing. Analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to identify and concisely communicate business implications of forecasts and actual results. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and adaptability to different cultures and communication styles. Ability to visualize demand planning reporting and insights. Highly motivated with a desire to innovate; ability to work independently and proactively identify improvement opportunities. Can work under pressure, consistently meet deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously. Effective communication skills with all levels of management, inside and outside finance.
