Mechanic I

Position Summary: This role specializes in receiving and inspecting dealer supplied chassis, assigning keys and vehicles, and coordinating all chassis control functions, especially suspension programs. Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate suspension programs, including Liquid Spring and Monroe Suspension programs. Coordinate all chassis modification duties in cooperation with the Mounting Supervisor. Assist with the company welding certification program, including conducting welding certification tests as requested. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships across functional areas. Perform additional duties as requested, directed, or assigned; also receive and inspect dealer supplied chassis. Key and vehicle assignment duties, and coordination of all chassis control functions. Work with a minimum of supervision. Qualifications/Training Valid Ohio driver’s license. Fundamental use of various pneumatic and power tools. Familiarity with safe operation of tools such as drill, screw gun, sander, and jig saw. Ability to analyze and evaluate situations. Ability to interact with various levels of personnel. Ability to set work priorities. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships. Effective communication in English. Verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to perform critical analysis. Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Attention to detail. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Education and Experience One year of experience in a manufacturing environment. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently must walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and work with arms above the head. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Ability to bend, stoop, and squat. Occasionally lift up to but not exceed 40 pounds. Ability to work with arms above head. Able to read and follow written and verbal instructions. Work Environment Ambient temperature range 40 - 100 degrees with high humidity. Personal Protective Equipment Recommended and/or Required on Production Floor Safety glasses or prescription safety glasses with side shields. Face shields. Ear plugs. Work gloves. Steel toe shoes.
