Together, we're improving health and improving lives.Labcorp is seeking a Pathology Assistant to join our team in Seattle, WA.Location: 550 17th Avenue, Seattle WASchedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-3:30PMJob ResponsibilitiesPerform complete dissection, gross description, selection and submission of tissue for microscopic examination and special studies following departmental guidelines including routine biopsy specimens as well as complex surgical casesFollow the laboratory's procedure for specimen handling and processingAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and proceduresAssist other areas rotations within the department with specified assignments in a timely manner after the assigned job has been completedEnsure a professional environment is maintainedIdentify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test resultsAssist with troubleshooting specimen-related issues, including identification, handling, processing, and workflow concerns, and work collaboratively to resolve problemsMaintain high ethical standards and integrity in performing the assigned dutiesPerform shared laboratory operational responsibilities, including tissue disposal, hazardous waste management, processor reagent rotation and maintenance activities, and other duties necessary to maintain departmental workflow and complianceAssist other area rotations within the department with specified assignments in a timely manner after assigned work has been completedMaintain high ethical standards and integrity in performing assigned dutiesEnsure a professional environment is maintainedKnowledge of hazardous waste managementKnowledge of personal protection measures and blood borne pathogensOther related duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology2 years or more of grossing experience small biopsies and complex surgical casesCompletion of a NAACLS accredited PA programASCP certificationAdditional Job StandardsExperience in a high volume clinical laboratory environmentKnowledge of quality control and quality assurance processesProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systemsStrong communication skills; both written and verbalHigh level of attention detail along with strong organizational skillsKnowledge of hazardous waste management and personal protection measuresAbility to handle the physical requirements of the positionAble to pass a standardized color blindness testFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs**Pay Range: $35.00 - $72.00All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market dataBenefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
