Recruitment/Credentialing Specialist

Summary The position safeguards that all medical staff are working within both internal and external policy. Credentialing functions include, but are not limited to, assisting with processing Credentialing Applications, performing primary source verification, updating and maintaining the credentialing database. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021). Learn more about this agency Duties Help Coordinates the Medical Staff credentialing process and works professionally and independently with all entities to ensure a reliable and organized credentialing process for the medical staff. Represents Supervisor in dealings with internal and external agencies as appropriate including interaction and networking with representatives and executives from other hospital organizations within the federal and private sectors. Works with the computerized credentialing software system for the overall medical staff credentialing. Provides technical and managerial assistance to the Chief Medical Officer in preparation for presentations regarding credentialing and clinical privileges. Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. A background investigation is a standard process used by the Federal Government to verify an individual's identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information to determine suitability for Federal service. Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability. Financial Suitability Requirement: This position requires a review of the applicant's financial history as part of the personnel security and suitability determination. Applicants must demonstrate financial responsibility, maintain good standing with creditors, and satisfy all legal financial obligations prior to applying. Individuals with substantial delinquent or unresolved financial obligations-including, but not limited to, delinquent federal or state tax liabilities, defaulted federal student loans, court-ordered fines or fees, or child support arrears-may be deemed unsuitable for employment with the Indian Health Service (IHS). Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Qualifications for GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience in developing and maintaining recruiting sources and fosters ongoing positive relationships with interested candidates. Experience in communicating to management the staffing concerns of the health care facilities. Experience in being responsible for the administration of credentialing and re-credentialing activities and record keeping. Experience in maintaining current, complete copies of hospital and clinic medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations. Experience in being responsible for recruitment of medical students for the Area Extern program and serving as a point of contact. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position Minimum Qualifications for GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: independently coordinating the credentialing and privileging process for a health care facility, developing and maintaining health care processes to maintain accreditation; Fosters ongoing delivery of quality comprehensive health services through quality improvement activities; Communicating to management concerns of health care facilities; Facilitating the coordination of credentialing and re-credentialing activities; Maintaining comprehensive records documenting governing board oversight; Maintaining current and complete copies of governing board and medical staff bylaws. Evaluating medical staff files to determine appropriate response to incoming requests for verification of hospital affiliation and clinical privileges from other healthcare facilities and state licensing agencies.OR a Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. OR a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
