Clinical Pharmacist

Responsibilities Primarily clinical‑based practice demonstrates ability to perform competencies and prescriptive authorities as approved by the medical staff. Participating in direct patient care with patient care teams. Perform all clinical pharmacy activities and oversee clinical activities of clinical pharmacists in training. Round with the medical team and provide patient care interventions. Precept students and/or residents as appropriate. Review and evaluate individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost; document the care provided to patients. Supervise the drug distribution operation; ensure safe and effective alternatives as appropriate. Communicate routinely with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding drug therapy. Contribute to initiatives that improve the cost‑effectiveness of drug therapy. Provide age‑specific patient care as established for the area and job title. Perform competencies and activities as outlined in Pharmacist Authorities policy. Required Qualifications BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree. California Pharmacist License. AHA BLS for the health care provider and ACLS certifications required prior to being trained to respond to codes. Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other nationally recognized certification required within 2 years of hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a multi‑site health system pharmacy enterprise. Teaching certificate and/or experience precepting students and/or residents. PGY1 residency or 3 years of experience in a relevant practice area preferred. Scripps Health is an equal opportunity employer.
