About the Position

Job Title: CVICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year in CVICU or 2 years of extensive CVICU/open heart experience for first-time travelers License: Active state RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS; NIH preferred Must-Have: EOW availability, floating required within specialty Description: CVICU RN needed for day shifts. The role requires a minimum of one year of experience or two years for first-time travelers with extensive CVICU/open heart experience. The position involves caring for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac surgery, STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, and other vascular conditions. The average daily census is six patients with a bed capacity of eight. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:2 in CVICU and 1:3 if floated to IMC. The position requires management of ventilated patients and involvement in immediate post-operative care. Skills required include arterial line management, cardiac drips titration, and central line care. Floating to IMC will be necessary as well as managing patients with varying acuity. Weekend shifts are required every other week and may include holiday coverage. Candidates should be comfortable with unit-specific procedures and protocols. The role includes using specialized equipment such as FloTrac, CRRT, IABP, and Impella. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills are essential for this position.
