Job Overview Location: Kansas City, Missouri Job Title: Secondary Science Teacher – Agriculture Job Title Code: 870 Salary Grade: T01 – T06 Department: Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development Reports To: Building Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Starting Date: July 1, 2025 Position Summary Teaches one or more subjects to students in public secondary schools by performing the following duties. Responsibilities Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations. Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or state and school requirements. Assigns lessons and corrects homework. Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress. Keeps an attendance record. Maintains discipline in the classroom. Meets with parents to discuss student progress and problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops. Performs related duties such as sponsoring activities or student organizations, assisting pupils in selecting course of study, and counseling students in adjustment and academic problems. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from a four‑year college or university. Missouri State Certification in Agricultural Science (Grades 5‑9 or 9‑12). Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience and/or training in current techniques and skills for teaching secondary‑level students. Teaching experience in urban schools. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and must occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Terms of Employment Length of work year: In person; 8 hours per day; 5 days per week; 187 work days. Benefits Health and Dental Insurance.
