Lead Ultrasound Technologist - Own the standard of care

Providence, RI

In this Lead Ultrasound Tech role, you’ll work closely with the Operations Manager of Radiology, radiologists, and a tight-knit allied health team to supervise and perform ultrasound procedures that drive real clinical decisions.

You’ll set the pace and the standard for routine, portable, urgent, and invasive studies, making sure every patient gets safe, accurate imaging and every technologist has what they need to deliver it.

You’ll be at the center of day-to-day Ultrasound operations, keeping quality and throughput high while supporting your team and providers.

• Ultrasound Department daily workflow
• Routine ultrasound examinations
• Portable ultrasound studies
• Urgent and STAT ultrasound procedures
• Invasive ultrasound procedures
• Collaboration with the Operations Manager of Radiology
• Close coordination with radiologists
• Communication across medical and technical staff

• Supervising day-to-day activity in the Ultrasound Department
• Performing routine, portable, urgent, and invasive ultrasound procedures
• Working closely with the Operations Manager of Radiology on department operations
• Collaborating with radiologists to support accurate diagnosis and patient care
• Overseeing workflow to keep studies timely, safe, and high quality
• Serving as the go-to resource for technologists during complex or urgent cases
• Ensuring courteous, efficient, and ethical conduct within the department
• Communicating clearly with physicians, nurses, and technical personnel
• Supporting and modeling best practices in patient positioning and equipment use
• Maintaining focus on fine detail and task completion in a busy clinical environment
• Balancing hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities
• Contributing to a professional, collaborative allied health environment

• Completion of an Ultrasound Training Program
• Certification by ARDMS or ARRT, or ARDMS board-eligible status
• At least 5 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred, or clearly demonstrated leadership skills
• Ability to conduct yourself courteously, efficiently, and ethically with all hospital personnel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with medical and technical staff
• Ability to lift and position patients and equipment as needed
• Capacity to walk and stand for prolonged periods and perform fine manipulative skills with strong hand-eye coordination
• Ability to concentrate on fine detail and sustain attention on tasks for 20–45 minutes at a time
• Ability to communicate in writing using advanced writing skills

This is a full-time, first-shift opportunity where you’re not just “on the schedule” — you’re shaping how Ultrasound is delivered across the department.

Full-time regular (64–80 hours), 1st shift, approximately 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Must have completed an Ultrasound Training Program.

Must be ARDMS or ARRT certified, or ARDMS board eligible.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist required.
