We are seeking an Agentic AI Engineer to join our team. This role will involve designing, developing, integrating, and supporting Agentic AI applications and scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and event-driven architecture . The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java backend development and Agentic AI application development, with a passion for AI-powered automation, intelligent applications, modern software architecture, and cloud-native technologies.

Job Description

The Agentic AI Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing intelligent, scalable, and maintainable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot , with a strong focus on Agentic AI capabilities. The Agentic AI Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to build AI-powered applications that can reason, interact with systems, execute tasks, and automate business processes.

The Agentic AI Engineer will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, code reviews, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support. This role requires strong backend engineering skills combined with practical experience developing Agentic AI applications and integrating AI capabilities with enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities Agentic AI Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain Agentic AI applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build backend services that enable AI agents to interact with enterprise applications, APIs, databases, and business systems.
• Develop intelligent workflows that allow AI agents to perform multi-step tasks and automate business processes.
• Integrate AI agents with backend services, enterprise data sources, APIs, and external systems.
• Implement reliable orchestration patterns for AI-driven workflows and agent interactions.
• Support the development of AI-enabled automation solutions using modern software engineering practices.
• Evaluate emerging Agentic AI technologies and identify opportunities to improve application capabilities.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, software developers, architects, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver AI-powered solutions.
• Apply appropriate security, reliability, observability, and governance practices to Agentic AI applications.
• Assist in evaluating AI agent performance, reliability, accuracy, and operational behavior.

Java & Spring Boot Backend Development

• Develop clean, maintainable, scalable, and high-performance backend applications using Java and Spring Boot .
• Design and implement RESTful services and backend APIs.
• Develop reusable services, components, and application modules.
• Implement business logic and backend automation services.
• Apply object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Perform code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to development teams.
• Refactor existing applications to improve performance, maintainability, scalability, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and production issues.
• Develop unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure application quality.
• Maintain clear technical documentation for applications, APIs, and integrations.

REST APIs & Enterprise Integration

• Design, develop, and maintain secure REST APIs for backend services and AI-enabled applications.
• Integrate Agentic AI applications with internal and external enterprise systems.
• Implement API authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, and logging.
• Develop backend automation services that interact with enterprise APIs.
• Ensure APIs are scalable, reliable, secure, and easy to maintain.
• Troubleshoot API integration, connectivity, performance, and data-related issues.
• Collaborate with frontend, AI/ML, integration, and platform teams to establish effective API contracts.

Event-Driven Architecture & Kafka

• Design and develop backend services using Event-Driven Architecture principles.
• Implement asynchronous processing and event-based workflows where appropriate.
• Support integration with Apache Kafka for event streaming and messaging.
• Develop and troubleshoot event producers and consumers.
• Understand message delivery, event processing, error handling, retries, and scalability.
• Support event-driven communication between AI agents, backend services, and enterprise systems.
• Monitor and troubleshoot event processing and messaging issues.

Database Development & Data Integration

• Develop SQL queries and database integrations using Oracle and PostgreSQL .
• Design and optimize database interactions for backend applications.
• Support data retrieval, persistence, transformation, and validation processes.
• Troubleshoot database connectivity, query performance, and data integrity issues.
• Optimize SQL queries and application-level database access for performance.
• Collaborate with database teams on schema, indexing, data access, and performance requirements.
• Ensure AI-enabled applications can securely access and process required enterprise data.

CI/CD & Cloud Deployment

• Participate in CI/CD development and deployment processes.
• Work with tools such as Jenkins to automate application build, test, and deployment workflows.
• Support automated testing and continuous integration practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to improve deployment reliability and efficiency.
• Assist with application deployment, configuration management, monitoring, and release activities.
• Support cloud-based application deployment and modernization initiatives.
• Exposure to Pivotal Cloud Foundry is beneficial for application deployment and cloud-based solutions.

Production Support & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing Java, Spring Boot, API, database, and AI-enabled applications.
• Analyze application logs, error messages, metrics, and system behavior to identify root causes.
• Participate in incident resolution, problem management, and production support activities.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and implement appropriate improvements.
• Support application monitoring, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, database, security, and application teams to resolve complex issues.
• Document production issues, resolutions, and preventative actions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5 8 years of professional experience in software development, backend engineering, or related technology roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java development.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and Java backend application development.
• Mandatory experience developing Agentic AI applications .
• Strong understanding of Agentic AI concepts, intelligent workflows, AI agents, and AI-powered automation.
• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services .
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL .
• Strong understanding of Event-Driven Architecture .
• Experience with backend automation and enterprise application integration.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, scalable, and testable code.
• Experience participating in code reviews and software development best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
