Registered Nurse – NICU

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 22-bed Level III NICU using an open-bed concept, managing nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2–3 (up to 1:4 for stable feeder/grower patients)
• Care for patients with diagnoses including RDS, prematurity (23+ weeks), SGA, IUGR, hypoglycemia, and hyperbilirubinemia; manage intubated patients and those on bubble CPAP and central lines
• Titrate drips including antibiotics, multivitamins, iron, surfactant, TPN, and epinephrine
• Attend deliveries under 36 weeks gestation (including C-sections) to assist with APGAR assessments alongside charge and staff nurses
• Float as needed to the newborn nursery and pediatrics unit as assigned
• Practice in a family-centered care environment with neonatologist coverage during days and NNP overnight coverage

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in North Dakota or a compact state
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience
• Ability to titrate drips independently
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Level III or Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
• Experience with bubble CPAP and mechanical ventilators
• Familiarity with central line management and care of extremely premature infants
• Strong communication skills with an active learning mindset and family-centered care approach
