Job Details Position: Radiation Therapist Location: Pleasanton (may be assigned to San Jose and Palo Alto as needed) Schedule: Full-Time, Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour shifts (no weekends, no call) Sign‑On Bonus/Relocation Eligible Clinical Scope and Patient Populations Serve adults, pediatrics, veterans, and BMT patients Treat local, national and international patients Administer innovative treatment techniques Participate in clinical trials in partnership with the Stanford School of Medicine Work in a research‑based facility within an academic university medical center Team Culture The Radiation Therapy team values professionalism, patient‑centric care, and mutual support. Duties include reviewing treatment plans, acting as a liaison with physicians, preparing equipment and immobilization devices, recording treatment data, assisting in dosimetry, and ensuring safety protocols. Career Ladder Levels LevelI: Entry level LevelII: Meets career‑ladder criteria for RTTII LevelIII: Meets career‑ladder criteria for RTTIII LevelIV: Meets career‑ladder criteria for RTTIV (determined by technical proficiency and years of experience) Key Responsibilities Deliver treatment and perform patient simulations according to prescriptions and treatment plans Explain treatment procedures to patients and families Refer medical questions to appropriate personnel Ensure safety in patient care through consistent adherence to department protocols and policies Identify and report deviations from prescribed treatment delivery Use C‑I‑CARE principles to explain treatment‑related procedures Respond to patient concerns and observe reactions to treatments Reinforce patient education and side‑effect management; report non‑compliance Maintain accurate and complete treatment documentation Understand radiation oncology billing and coding; review documentation daily with coders Maintain a safe and orderly treatment room, checking safety controls and performing equipment warm‑up and calibration checks Assist with other related duties as needed Education and Experience License/Certification requirement: ARRT-RTT, BLS, CA‑RTT Relevant experience as a Radiation Therapist or related clinical role Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of modern radiation therapy equipment and systems, including simulation, imaging, and treatment procedures Knowledge of human anatomy and proper patient positioning Understanding of safety and quality control practices Ability to train, coach, and mentor support staff Scheduling and billing procedure knowledge Competence in clinical reasoning and patient assessment Leadership skills to direct and review work performed by others Awareness of current developments in clinical practice Project management skills for department initiatives such as safety, training, and quality improvement Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
