Travel Surgical Technologist

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with Level II Trauma OR experience for a 13-week teaching hospital assignment requiring at least 3 years of experience.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
• At least 2 years of Level I (preferred) or Level II (required) Trauma OR experience
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• Experience with eyes, DaVinci Xi Robot, and liver transplant procedures required
• Neuro and ortho experience preferred
• Prior travel experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• License required if applicable
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or above (no coworker references accepted)

Responsibilities

• Work in a General OR at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital with transplant services (kidney, liver, pancreas)
• Variable shift schedule including days, evenings, 8s, 10s, or 12s
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Call required Monday-Friday 2100-0630, and Saturday/Sunday 0630-1900 or 1830-0700
• Weekend and holiday coverage required based on unit needs
• Epic charting system preferred
• Perform surgical technologist duties across a wide range of specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, plastics, vascular, bariatrics, and robotics
• Support transplant and trauma cases including amputations, burns, gunshot/stab wounds, and MVA-related injuries
• Maintain aseptic technique, infection control, and proper instrument processing and sterilization practices
• Participate in Universal Protocol (time out) procedures and specimen handling
• Assist with robotic-assisted procedures including Da Vinci Xi and SP systems
• First-time travelers may be considered given prior travel experience preference
• Former employees eligible for assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current OSU employees are ineligible for traveler positions at any Ohio State University hospital location
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to urgent credentialing timelines
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
