We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for our team in South Salt Lake City, Utah. This role will oversee financial reporting, close activities, internal controls, and project-based accounting while partnering closely with operational leaders to support sound business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, a hands-on approach to managing complex accounting processes, and the ability to bring structure and consistency to a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead daily accounting operations, guiding the team with clear direction, consistent follow-through, and a collaborative management style.
• Direct the monthly and annual close process, coordinating deliverables across accounting, operations, and project stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Safeguard the general ledger by reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and other adjustments across multiple entities and cost structures.
• Strengthen financial controls, maintain organized supporting documentation, and reinforce disciplined accounting practices throughout the department.
• Manage accounting support for project-based revenue recognition and job cost tracking, helping improve financial insight for service and construction-related work.
• Partner with project managers and operational leadership to enhance forecasting, monitor financial performance, and deliver reporting that supports business decisions.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense activity, credit card programs, and cash flow visibility to support effective financial operations.
• Support treasury-related needs by helping maintain banking relationships, monitoring cash activity, and ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Contribute to the ongoing accounting system transition to NetSuite by assisting with data validation, workflow alignment, testing, and post-launch stabilization efforts.
• Prepare audit-ready schedules and reconciliations while helping ensure compliance with company policies, financial governance standards, and applicable requirements.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility within an accounting or finance function.
• Background in construction accounting, project-based finance, or a multi-entity environment is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle accounting, including month-end close, year-end close, reconciliations, and journal entry review.
• Knowledge of internal controls, financial documentation standards, and audit support practices.
• Experience with ERP platforms; exposure to NetSuite and accounting system implementation or migration work is highly valued.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across accounting, operations, HR, and project teams.
• Ability to stay organized, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a dynamic business setting.
