We are looking for a highly motivated Electro-Optical Lead Systems Engineer to become a member of the Systems Engineering and Integration Team (SEIT) and drive requirements and verification strategy through all system design reviews to sell-off. You will provide end-to-end governance, maintenance, and strategic direction of Electro-Optical requirements across the program lifecycle, from preliminary design through deployment. As part of the systems leadership group you will direct a team in the development and management of specifications, requirements, and verification material, interface documents, and related engineering documents. This will include leading coordination of the systems team across multiple geographically distributed sites and interacting with the larger program team, sub-contractor teams, customer team, and executive management. Your responsibilities in this role will include the following:Manage a team of 10-15 systems engineers while providing strategic leadershipDirect and oversee the systems engineering work plan, resource allocation, and team delivery to ensure mission success.Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineers, program managers, and subject matter experts to develop, analyze, and verify system requirements and interfaces, ensuring documentation and governance accordingly.Provide technical oversight and strategic guidance on component needs, driving cross-functional groups to deliver solutions that meet system and customer requirements.Direct verification planning, execution, and analysis coordination across distributed sites and stakeholder groups.Lead and chair system engineering, analysis, and integration activities, driving decision-making and technical resolution throughout the program lifecycle.Establish and direct system compliance frameworks, objective evidence creation, and documentation standards.Direct and lead system design reviews, ensuring alignment with technical baselines, customer requirements, and program objectives.Additional managerial responsibilities include people development, budget/schedule accountability, and strategic planning for systems engineering deliverables.Basic QualificationsExperienced leading teams with complex, competing priorities maximizing success across multiple objectives and constraintsProficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) including experience with Cameo or similar.Experience with requirements management and verification (including requirement engineering, requirements management, verification and validation, test planning)Producing and maintaining ICDsUnderstanding of systems architecture, interface control, and requirement traceability concepts.Excellent communication skills—able to produce clear documentation and present technical information to diverse audiences.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multi‑disciplinary teams and influence without direct authority.Desired SkillsStrategic Vision & ExecutionExperience with space-based electro-optical payload systems and their sub-systems and components; including design, development, testing; EO/IR, RF, electro-optical, sensor, laser, spacecraft, and ground systemsKnowledge of industry-standard verification methodologies as well as tools such as IBM DOORS or equivalentFamiliarity with traceability between requirements, design, verification and objective evidenceExperience with reviewing and evaluating verification Objective Evidence and collaborating with engineering design teams to identify and resolve verification issuesPrior experience with planning and execution of major milestone reviews (such as SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)Knowledge of systems engineering for full space mission architectures, including both space and ground segmentsExperience with new mission and system architecture development, concept development, and technology maturation.Familiarity with one or more of the following: electronics and FPGA technical experience, electro-optical sensor system technical experience, space-based systems technical experienceExperience working with multi-disciplinary technical and/or engineering teamsStrong analytical skills and attention to detailExperience in programs ranging from Class A to Class D development environmentsPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $166900.00 - $309900.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
