Whether in-person or remote, you'll use specialized recording software and hardware to produce high-quality audio/video documentation. You’ll also administer oaths, create detailed annotations for transcription, and ensure smooth and professional proceedings.Key ResponsibilitiesAccurately record legal proceedings using advanced audio/video equipmentAdminister oaths and maintain control as an independent authorityAnnotate essential testimony for transcription and playback as neededManage and secure exhibits, backup files, and complete job-specific worksheetsMaintain professionalism and build effective relationships with clients and legal professionalsPerform timely preparation for assignments and respond to communications efficientlyWhat You’ll NeedSkills: Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and excellent problem-solving skills under pressureExperience: Familiarity with court procedures, legal terminology, and digital recording technology is preferredCertifications: Ability to obtain a Notary Public license and AAERT's Certified Electronic Reporter (CER) certificationTechnical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and touch typing (minimum 60 wpm with accuracy)Education: Associate’s degree in legal studies, communications, or audio/visual technology is a plusPersonal Attributes: Self-motivated, professional demeanor, and adaptability to work in various environmentsOther Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a national criminal background checkWhat Success Looks LikeProducing accurate and high-quality audio recordings for transcription and reviewDemonstrating exceptional professionalism with clients and colleaguesExceeding quality control benchmarks and contributing to efficient office operationsWork EnvironmentThis role involves a mix of office-based work and travel to legal proceedings (up to a 75-mile radius from your location).
