Tax Manager: Direct Tax (State and Local Tax Group) Akron, OH, US Salary Range: $100,000.00 To $130,000.00 Annually Responsibilities Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with clients on a variety of consulting and compliance engagements focusing on state and local direct tax. Advise clients on challenges including partnership and corporate state/local tax returns with attention to multistate tax issues. Work with an in-house tax preparation team and coordinate detailed review of estimated payment, withholding and composite tax calculations and investor packages. Manage the engagement workflow, talent, and invoicing. Become a trusted business advisor to our clients focusing on audit representation, nexus planning, and voluntary disclosures. Research and analyze a wide variety of tax issues, including state tax legislation and assist with the compliance and investor reporting process. Additionally, assist in the proposal process for new and existing clients and act as mentor and/or career advisor for members of the engagement team to support their training, growth and development. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other related business field. Master’s degree in taxation is a plus. CPA or other appropriate certification is preferred but not required. 3-5 years’ experience in state income and franchise tax or federal tax, pass-through, tax research, and corporate tax returns. Experience providing tax planning services is a plus. Excellent research, writing, presentation, and communication skills. Experience working within a CPA firm is preferred. Management/Supervisory experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) as well as basic knowledge of operating systems. Compensation and Benefits Base compensation for this role typically ranges between $100,000 and $130,000.
