What You'll Do

As an Accounting Technician, you'll play an important role in the City's day-to-day financial operations by:

• Processing accounts payable invoices and procurement card transactions.
• Assisting with procurement and purchasing activities.
• Managing vendor documentation, including W-9 forms and annual 1099 reporting.
• Processing cash receipts, accounts receivable, and monthly customer billings.
• Preparing and posting journal entries.
• Performing monthly general ledger and account reconciliations.
• Compiling financial data and preparing reports.
• Assisting with the City's annual operating budget and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
• Researching financial information for Open Records Requests.
• Providing excellent customer service to vendors, departments, government agencies, and the public.
• Performing other accounting and financial support duties as assigned.

• Understanding of municipal accounting practices, procurement procedures, and IRS reporting requirements.

• Strong computer skills, including accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment

• Professional office setting within the City's Finance Department.
• Primarily desk and computer work with occasional lifting of light office materials.
• Collaborative team environment focused on serving internal departments and the public.
• Reports directly to the Controller with guidance from the Finance Director.

Minimum Requirements

• Specialized training in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field beyond a high school diploma (Associate degree preferred).
• Minimum of two (2) years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience, preferably in a municipal or governmental environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain bonding.
