• Pay Rate: $68.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: 4x12 D/N rotation - 0700-1900 / 1900-0700; every other weekend

Job Summary

This is a MS/Tele RN travel contract position at a Tertiary Care Hospital in Rochester, NY. The unit is a high-volume complex care unit serving Medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients, requiring nurses comfortable managing a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg. Floating is required, and charge experience is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-volume MS/Tele unit with patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7
• Perform telemetry monitoring directly on the unit
• Utilize Rapid Response and Code teams as appropriate
• Manage and monitor pacemakers (temporary and permanent)
• Provide feeding tube care and management
• Administer blood products
• Perform central line care and management
• Perform phlebotomy
• Provide peripheral line care and management
• Manage PICC lines
• Start IVs
• Implement Heparin protocols
• Care for ortho trauma and total joint replacement patients
• Manage surgical drains
• Manage High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Perform tracheostomy management
• Implement and maintain isolation precautions
• Perform wound care and wound vac management
• Serve in charge nurse capacity as required
• Float as required within the facility

Education Requirements

• NY RN License required - must be in hand; NO EXCEPTIONS
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required - must include valid NIHSS in submittal

Required Experience

• Experience in patient ratio of 1:6 required
• Charge nurse experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with experience meeting patient ratio requirements

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• High-volume unit
• Complex care unit for Medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients
• 4x12-hour shifts, day/night rotation (0700-1900 / 1900-0700)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Must be more than 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
• Scrub color: navy on bottom, navy or white on top
