Whether you are an experienced clinician or a newer graduate, we offer a supportive, collaborative environment where your work truly makes a difference in residents’ independence and quality of life.General PurposeThe Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) assists the Occupational Therapist with patient-related activities and provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders, treatment plans, and applicable regulations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTreat residents as directed by the supervising Occupational TherapistImplement treatment plans according to physician ordersRecord evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation per OT Board, facility policy, and payer requirementsCommunicate resident progress, problems, and plans with the supervising OT and interdisciplinary teamAssist nursing staff with training of Restorative Aides as appropriateParticipate in in-service training programs and care conferencesEducate residents, families, and caregivers on maintenance programs and discharge planningParticipate in discharge planning and transition of careMaintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment areaReport equipment issues to ensure safe and effective operationMaintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, and staffSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilitiesQualificationsEducation & ExperienceGraduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant programSkilled nursing or geriatric experience preferredLicensure & CertificationsCurrent, active California Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) licenseMust meet all continuing education requirementsMust maintain license in good standing with the State BoardSkillsProficient in electronic documentation systems (Casamba and PointClickCare preferred)Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative rehab teamPhysical DemandsFrequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pullingAbility to exert up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionallyOccasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawlingVisual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perceptionReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functionsWork EnvironmentSkilled nursing and rehabilitation environmentNoise level typically low to moderateReasonable accommodations availableAdditional InformationThis job description does not restrict management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.
