Travel RN - ICUAmerican TravelerTacoma, Washington, United StatesPosition ID: P-759605Position status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: DaysLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1Start date: 2027-01-11T00:00:00.000Z$2,323.04/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN to join a hospital's nursing float pool, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and Epic proficiency.DetailsFloat pool position covering all ICUs, PCU/ACC/CCUs, ED holding, and med surg units12-hour day shifts, 48 hours per weekPatient population includes COVID, neuro, trauma, medical, and surgical casesCare for patients with sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, DTs, multi-system failure, spinal injuries, GSW, MVA, strokes, TBI, and post-surgical patientsCVICU patients include post-op CABG, esophagectomy, TAVR, AAA repair, thoracic and vascular surgeries, and post-arrest casesNot expected to care for fresh CABG/TAVR, EVDs, post-TPA patients, or patients on ECMO, IABP, Impella, or hypothermia protocolICU ratio is 1:2; PCU/ACC/CCU ratio is 1:4; ER holding ratios based on level of careUses Epic charting systemSchedule set in 3-week blocks, provided 7-10 days in advanceEvery other weekend required, with rare back-to-back weekends possibleNo self-scheduling and no guaranteed patterned scheduleMay float to a nearby hospital approximately 2.5 miles away, with advance notice when neededRequirementsActive WA state or compact RN license requiredMinimum 1 year of ICU experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredRequired skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent and BiPAP management, invasive line management, ostomy care, general drains, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and IV medication titrationEpic EMR experience requiredMust pass required telemetry competency exam prior to startAdditional InformationSupport available from charge nurse, hospitalist, respiratory therapist, and intensivist 24/7; cardiologist on call 24/7 for CVICU, CCU, and cardiac short stay unitsOrientation includes 1 day of general hospital orientation, 1 day of unit orientation (12 hours), and 1 additional 12-hour day on like unitsDaily responsibilities include completing whiteboards, hourly rounding documentation, and bedside reportTwo-nurse verification required when wasting narcotics or benzodiazepinesPain documentation required before and after administering pain medication (30 minutes for IV, 1 hour for oral)Scrubs of any professional color are acceptableFree parking available in designated areasTime off requests beyond 5 days require manager approvalFirst-time travelers with strong ICU and float pool experience will be considered
