Concrete Barrier Machine Operator

Position Summary

Kiewit is looking for a Concrete Barrier Machine Operator for the Southeast Connector Project located in Fort Worth, TX.

Requirements

• Experience operating curb machines, slipform pavers, or similar concrete paving equipment.
• Operate the paver and other heavy equipment in a safe manner.
• Experience reading plans, grade stakes, and string lines.Knowledge of concrete placement, paving, and finishing operations

Shift Information

• Day shift: 6:00am – 6:00pm, Monday – Saturday.
• Night Shift: 6:00pm – 6:00am, Monday – Saturday.
• Days and Nights available.
• Additional overtime may be required.

Additional Information

• $28 per hour
• All offers are contingent on your ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Perform daily equipment inspections, safety checks, cleaning, and routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Operate the Paver controls the screed auger, control the hopper, and navigate the direction of the paver.

Line paver appropriately to the work area, and ensure proper application of the concrete to the desired height, width, and depth.

Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Paver.

Work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.

Follow directions and instructions from supervisors.

Work in a variety of weather conditions, including temperatures ranging from over 85 degrees to below 40 degrees.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
• Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
• Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required
• May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
• Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
• May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site
• Must have required tools
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing

Project Information

The Southeast Connector project is an interstate widening and reconstruction project designed to alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety. Major construction on the connector is slated for early 2023, with completion planned for 2027.
