Staff Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join a growing accounting team in Maryland. This contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate who enjoys working across core accounting functions, contributing to accurate financial reporting, and supporting a smooth close process. The role offers meaningful exposure to day-to-day accounting operations while partnering with colleagues across the business in a fast-moving environment.Responsibilities:• Record and review journal entries to keep the general ledger accurate and current.• Complete monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other key financial records.• Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities by preparing schedules and resolving outstanding items.• Examine financial results, research variances, and address discrepancies in a timely manner.• Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable processes when additional coverage is needed.• Prepare audit support materials and organize documentation required for internal or external review.• Maintain fixed asset activity, including depreciation tracking and related accounting records.• Assist with financial and management reporting by compiling data and preparing supporting analysis.• Follow established accounting policies and internal controls while working with cross-functional teams to support business goals.
