Key Responsibilities

As a pivotal clinical leader and Rehab Unit Manager, you will act as an RN Registered Nurse overseeing specialized wound care management, ensuring exceptional patient recovery outcomes, and directing smooth daily unit operations:

• Rehabilitation Clinical Oversight, Assessment & Daily Rounds:

  • Conduct systematic daily clinical rounds across the rehab unit to evaluate resident physical progress, assess complex health needs, and monitor subtle or acute changes in status.

  • Manage individualized care plans to ensure nursing interventions align with attending physician orders, physiatry recommendations, and specialized physical/occupational therapy goals.

  • Lead clinical responses to complex cases, post-surgical recovery, IV therapies, and acute change-of-condition events.

• Specialized Wound Care Management & Treatment Protocols:

  • Leverage Wound Care Certified expertise to perform comprehensive skin assessments, stage pressure injuries, measure surgical wounds, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.

  • Oversee specialized wound therapies, negative pressure wound therapy (wound VACs), advanced dressings, and debridement coordination with consulting physicians.

  • Train, mentor, and audit nursing staff on proper wound dressing changes, pressure ulcer prevention protocols, infection control techniques, and accurate wound charting.

• Staff Supervision, Leadership & Performance Coaching:

  • Directly manage and inspire charge nurses, LPNs, and CNAs on your shift, fostering an atmosphere of clinical excellence, accountability, and compassionate care.

  • Oversee medication administration routines and EHR charting accuracy, providing constructive real-time feedback and participating in formal performance evaluations.

  • Manage staff scheduling, shift assignments, and daily huddles to optimize unit workflow and maintain staff morale.

• Regulatory Compliance, Quality Assurance & EHR Standards:

  • Maintain meticulous medical records according to HIPAA standards, state nurse practice acts, and federal/state long-term care guidelines.

  • Actively participate in facility Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) committees, wound tracking committees, safety audits, and fall prevention programs to maintain complete survey readiness.

• Interdisciplinary Coordination & Family Communication:

  • Partner seamlessly with attending physicians, medical directors, physiatrists, wound specialists, physical/occupational/speech therapists, social workers, and dietitians.

  • Act as the primary clinical liaison for family members, conducting routine update calls, providing empathetic counseling, and delivering clear, comprehensive discharge education.

Qualifications

• Licensure: An active, unrestricted RN Registered Nurse license in the State of Wisconsin (or multi-state NLC equivalent).

• Certification: Must be Wound Care Certified (e.g., WCC, CWOCN, CWS) in good standing.

• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required; ACLS preferred.

• Clinical Experience: 2+ years of clinical nursing experience required. Prior supervisory experience as a Rehab Unit Manager or clinical manager in long-term care, inpatient rehab, post-acute, or surgical environments is highly preferred.

• Leadership & Teamwork: Proven capability to work autonomously when making critical unit decisions under pressure while fostering a collaborative, team-first environment.

• Tech Proficiency: Solid working knowledge of computers and standard Electronic Health Records (EHR) platforms (e.g., PointClickCare).
