Accounting Manager

Birmingham, AL - onsite

Our client is seeking a strategic, hands-on Accounting Manager to manage the day-to-day accounting operations of a mission-driven organization and serve as a trusted partner to the financial leadership and executive teams. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, offering the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting processes, provide financial insight, and support accurate reporting, sound fiscal stewardship, and thoughtful planning that directly contribute to long-term organizational success.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, journal entries, cash receipts, billing, and reconciliations
  • Develop and coordinate annual operating and capital budgets
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and reporting
  • Manage inventory controls, client billing, cash activity, and fixed asset records
  • Partner with the financial leadership team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Present financial information and budget recommendations to executive leaders and board committees
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner, promoting prudent financial management and strong internal controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and financial controls
What You'll Need to be Considered
  • 5+ years of solid accounting experience
  • Active CPA license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and accounting best practices
  • non profit experience required
  • Demonstrated integrity and ability to manage confidential financial information
  • Strong MS Excel experience
