Optometrist (Ark Valley Vision Care) - La Junta, CO

Overview Ark Valley Vision Care, located in southeast Colorado, is hiring an optometrist with a target start date between July 1 and September 1, 2026. Travel accommodations will be provided for candidates visiting La Junta for shadowing. About the Practice Founded in 2016, the independently owned practice is the only in‑person optometrist in the Arkansas River Valley. It offers general optometry, vision therapy, and medical optometry to patients of all ages. With an expanding office and growing demand, the role provides a high‑impact position with mentorship and partnership potential. What You'll Do Provide full‑scope optometric care for patients of all ages. Perform comprehensive eye exams, including routine vision assessments, refractive evaluations, and ocular health screenings. Diagnose and manage medical eye conditions such as dry eye, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, conjunctivitis, and macular degeneration. Deliver urgent and emergency eye care for injuries, infections, inflammation, and foreign‑body removal. Prescribe glasses and contact lenses, recommending personalized vision solutions. Provide pre‑ and post‑operative care for cataract and laser procedure patients in coordination with ophthalmology partners. Identify signs of systemic health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension and guide patients to appropriate follow‑up care. Work 40 hours per week, with flexibility for part‑time and a patient load ranging from 18 to 28 patients per day across all doctors. Who You Are Licensed or eligible for licensure in Colorado; strong full‑scope clinical skills and ideally therapeutic licensure. Passionate about patient‑centered care, relationship‑driven, willing to grow, and enthusiastic about practicing in a rural community. Optometry license in Colorado (or eligible to obtain). Strong full‑scope clinical skills. Therapeutic licensure preferred. Spanish fluency a plus. Background or special interest in rural medicine encouraged. Compensation & Benefits Total annual compensation: $161,300. Starting salary: $120,000 (based on experience). COA dues & insurance: $1,700. Continuing education & travel expenses: $2,500. Health insurance benefit: $16,000. Eye care & eyewear benefit: $750. Malpractice insurance: $1,000. Gym membership: $300. Self‑employment tax covered: $9,000. PTO – 4 weeks: $9,200. 10 paid holidays: $5,800. Production bonus: 1% after 6 months if performance satisfactory. 401(k) match up to 6% after 1 year.
